When a new workspace is created using STAAD import type, the new workspace has the following attributes:
A. Single Mat
For a single mat footing, the information gathered during the import process creates a single mat supporting all of the nodes.
B. Footing Group
For a footing group type workspace, the information gathered during the import process creates multiple footings under each node or precombined footings depending on the footing size minimums and the min separation distance specified on the Geometry Defaults page of App Settings.
C. Irregular Footing
For an irregular shaped footing workspace, the import creates a rectangular mat with all the nodes. The rectangular mat can then be modified to create an irregular shaped footing.
Refer to topic Support Reaction & Node Geometry Input Files for information on these files required during the import process as well as assumptions made during the import process.
When reactions are imported from Excel that were generated in STAAD, the coordinate system that is assumed by Foundation3D and Mat3D is as displayed in Reaction Coordinate System.
When "Import Reactions" button is clicked on Load Cases page, the import assumes that the footing and the load elements exist. If footing and load elements have not been created, load cases cannot be imported.
Refer to the sample load case template Excel file "SupportReactionImport.xlsx" included under the folder:
C:\ProgramData\Dimensional Solutions\Data\Samples
to see the format of the reactions. After import, these reactions are converted into loads in the products with appropriate signs.
