Allowables

Enter the values for allowable increases for various soil and pile parameters, such as bearing pressure, stability, sliding, uplift, and pile capacities (compression, tension, and shear).

Allowable Net Bearing Pressure

A geotechnical engineer typically gives the value entered here. It is computed by applying a safety factor to the ultimate bearing pressure and represents NET ALLOWABLE bearing pressure on the soil. This value plus the overburden constitutes the gross allowable bearing pressure as indicated in the Bearing Capacity Tab displaying the bearing pressures on the soil.

*Note: By convention, the allowable increases for Soil Bearing and Pile Capacities are specified in terms of  percent increases.

The increases in soil overturning, soil lateral force stability factors and soil uplift are actual values.

You cannot edit the allowable load types here, but if you wish to add a new allowable load types, enter them in app settings as specified in Allowable Load Types.
