Formwork Dimensions
Customize formwork sizes for piers - formwork sizes for square/rectangular, octagonal and circular piers may be added, modified or deleted here. Our program uses these formwork sizes in the design mode.
Add Formwork Dimension - To add a formwork dimension to the existing values, first select “Rectangular”, “Octagonal” or “Circular” under which you wish to add the new dimension. Then enter the value in the blank field and press the Add (+) button.
Remove Formwork Dimension - To remove a formwork dimension from the existing values, select the dimension and press the Delete (x ) button.
Octagonal formwork sizes are used for both the octagonal pier and the octagonal footing.
Templates:
You can also add or remove formwork dimensions by saving and loading formwork templates.
Save as Template - To save the current rebar table as a template, click the left ribbon button. A “Save As” dialog is displayed so that you can enter the filename of the template in which the rebar information will be saved.
Load Template - To load a previously saved rebar table template, click the right ribbon button. A “Open” dialog is displayed. Choose the template file that you want loaded and click the OK button.
When you Load or Save a Template, the default directory is:
C:\ProgramData\Dimensional Solutions\Data\Settings\Formwork
The file will have the extension of “.dft”.
Foundation excavation quantity is based on the parameters specified under "Excavation Parameters".
-Dimension "A" represents the working dimension around the footing/pile cap.
-Dimension "B" represents the vertical height that is typically used for shallow excavations.
-Dimensions "V" and "H" denote the sloped excavation parameters typically used for deeper foundations.
*If "H" is specified as 0, a straight cut is assumed from above the dimension "B" to grade and the excavation quantity calculated appropriately.
When Design mode in Mat3D is used to design a single mat or footings in a footing group workspace, rectangular formwork dimensions listed on this page are used to increment footing dimensions if the design demands an increase of footing plan dimensions. The pier dimensions are incremented according to the dimensions listed on this page for rectangular, octagonal and circular pier shapes.
